hi my tortoise doesnt poo very often and when it does its like a big black slug. it keeps trying to turn over but i dont know why im afraid it might die on its back what is wrong with it , it gets fresh tortoise dried food and fresh salad fruit every day  please help  thanks

What species do you have and how old are they? without actually seeing the poo it is hard to say, but by your description that sounds like normal. With regards to the diet, you need to look at what is needed for the species you have, there are care sheets under the link "The Tortoise" that will tell you about the habitat and dietary requirements. Do you bath your tortoise?
When you say the tortoise is trying to turn itself over, do you mean it climbs and then falls on its back? you need to move anything away from the basking light that could make the tortoise fall on its back, as they could dehydrate if you were not around to turn them over. Put lots of large stone around the pen so that there is something for the tortoise to hook onto and flip themselves back over.
