I can hear him breathing?
Posted: 14/08/2009 by unhindered

hi guys its been a while! I'm slightly worried about JD as he sounds a bit nasal, not massively but I can hear him breathing, should I take him to the vets? Other than that he's still moving around very quickly, still eating and drinking and everything!

Hi

Is it a sort of whistling sound?

it has been in the past kind of like a squeak but that was only every now and then, now I can just hear him breathing through his nose

Has he had any bubbles from his nose? Try gently pressing under his chin to see if bubbles come out, or if there is a foreign body in there it may dislodge it.  Let us know how you get on.

No there are no bubbles that I have noticed, he was squeaking a bit yesterday, seemed to stop after his bath though, I have tried gently pressing under his chin and nothing seemed to happen apart from JD getting angry at me! haha. Actually when he was in the bath yesterday it sounded like he sneezed?! Is that possible? Maybe he has a cold? I'll keep a close eye on him.

Yes keep a close eye on him, if you do see bubble it's best to get him to a vet to clear it up.  What substrate are you using, soil/sand is the best and most natural when it gets to dry it can be misted with water to keep the dust down.  If its hemp this can be dusty and get in their nasal passages you cant mist this as it can go mouldy and cause respiratory problems.
