Mature male N.African Spur-Thighed Tortoise (Ali) - Runcorn Cheshire
Posted: 09/08/2009 by TPGDarren

We are looking for a home for Ali, a mature male N. African Spur-Thighed Tortoise (Testudo Graeca Graeca – TGG). Ali has lived together with Sam (also a TGG) and Nigel  (a Hermanns) – also listed – for a number of years. They are currently in Runcorn, Cheshire, though there is no preference as to what location they are rehomed to – so long as a good long-term home is found. If you would like to be considered to rehome Ali, please contact the rehoming team at rehoming@tortoise-protection-group.org.uk with the email subject line 'Ali – TGG - Runcorn" – please specify whether you would like to be considered to rehome both Ali & Sam or either. Please do not apply through this forum. The rehoming application form can be found in the Rehoming Section of this website:-

http://www.tortoise-protection-group.org.uk/site/131.asp

you will need to download it into your documents, complete it and attach it to your email. If you experience any problems, please let us know, and if you have already completed an application, please let us know when you apply. Please note: There is no fee charged for re-homing but we hope that if you are successful in your application, you will consider a donation to help towards the TPG's work. Please be assured that any donation no matter how small will be spent working towards making a lasting difference to tortoises. Not all tortoises that we have rehomed in the past have required veterinary treatment, however occasionally this has occurred; therefore as a non profitable group we rely on your generosity to help our cause.

Kindest Regards
Darren

Hi Sharon
Different species of tortoises should never be mixed as each carry pathogens to which the other may have little or no resistance. In the case of redfoots and N. African spurs these tortoises also each require very different environments and diets.

I HAVE OWNED A SPUR THIGHED TORTOISE FOR 9 YEARS, HE IS LOVELY BUT FEEL HE IS ALITTLE LONELY,  HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THE RIGHT SIZE  (AGED) COMPANIONS FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS BUT NOT HAVE BEEN SUITABLE.  I FEEL THESE WOULD BE IDEA, ONCE THEY HAVE BEEN WORMED AND QUARANTINED.  PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THEY HAVE ANY OUTSTANDING HEAL PROBLEMS WHICH WOULD BE OF CONCERN TO MY EXISTING TORTOISE PLEASE.
