No Wee!!!?????
Posted: 27/05/2009 by dewly

Sorry, it's me again!!!!

Alfie, my 10 month old Spur Thigh, no longer has gritty urates (hooray) as I have been bathing him twice a day as suggested and also putting water on his food. However, I now dont see him wee at all. He poo's every day (huge poo's) but I don't see any wee's. I've look in his house for wet patches but I can't see any. Should I be worried please??

Hi Julie,

The chances are he's doing them in the water when you're bathing him. They expend retained fluids and replace them with fresh. If you look closely - you'll probably see a little jet of water at his rear end when bathing him.

LOL - until you ask you don't know:-)
Well done for clearing up the gritty wees - do have a good look at his rear end when he bathes next

Good to hear from you

Hi
Ahhh another kindred spirit like me. My family find me most amusing in the mornings, watching my two in their bath, with a final comment of "Good wee & poo day today" and then I can start my day as a happy bunny. I think if you are doing the daily baths, she is definately weeing. I stand and watch Keya for my own benefit, to make sure that she has wee'd, because if she doesn't pass any urates it is hard to see. Once her back end keeps raising up and down her little head pop's in and whoosh!!  and you can see a little whirlpool!! (Oh dear how sad am I)
Remind me, what did we all do before we had our torts???

Welcome to you Julie!

And Jane I also shout out "good boy" "Clever girl" when pooing and weeing happens!!!!!!! My o/h just shakes his head and asks whether the bathing really needs to be done whilst we're having breakfast Click and drag me down to the editor!!!!!! Non tortoises mummy's just don't understand but it's also nice to know that we're not alone with our obsessions...

Hi all,

Believe me there is nothing more exciting than watching an animal wee or poop when they have been ill as you know that the body is working correctly. I'm a student vet nurse and get all excited about any animal weeing and pooping and I am no different with Spike my 55 year old spur-thigh.
Have a great holiday.

I think I can safely say that Alfie is weeing!!!! I was holding him today and all of a sudden this jet of water came from his 'bottom' and covered my t shirt!!!!! How come so much water can come from such a tiny chap!!! I was amazed but also very chuffed.
