spurthigh help
Posted: 07/06/2017 by scott19

Hi Guys, Our 60-70 yr old spur laid some eggs last week as she did the previous year, Our worry is that since she has laid she hasnt eaten anything unlike last time.. shes not quite as active as before either.. shes been to the vet twice now and on the second time a scan was done (all clear) and bloods done (slightly raised level on liver but vet assured us only slight & everything else showed fine) its been a week now & still not eating... bathing regular and shes drinking & passing urine ok.. Just cannot tempt her with none of her favourites ?? one thing weve noticed is she rubs each side of her face with her front legs when in the bath?? told the vet but he cannot see anything wrong... getting very worried now :-(

Hello,

It is quite normal when having a soak, to 'wipe' the face with front legs.
How is she housed & is there access to grazing ?

Outdoor enclosure, full secure garden with plenty of weeds

Rebooking vets tomorrow as shes not eaten for a week now. Very unlike her.. tried all her favourites too. Just not interested

Are you sure she hasn't been feeding whilst you're not around to observe, given that she has access to "plenty of weeds".

Could poor weather be a factor ?

How many eggs were laid ?
Is the vet certain that none were retained ?
