A friends tortoise is losing scutes on his front legs ? does anyone have any ideas what is causing this ? Many thanks | |

Hello, It is an injury of some sort. There is serious risk of infection spreading below the scales & therefore unseen. A trip to a vet is essential. If the tort is kept with others, it is a result of fighting, separation is the 'cure.' There appears to be only 1 claw & some swelling of the leg. I trust that it/they have a large outside enclosure, eg at least 15sqm. Regards, Tom | |
