Right arm under developed
Posted: 31/05/2015 by Rialefay

Hi there I'm really worried about my hoursefield we have had her for about 8 nth now yesterday when I was cleaning her pen I have notice her right front arm is slightly underdeveloping? She only has 3 claws. The left has 4 and is developing fine. It doesn't seem to be bothering her. She gets about fine, she's eating very well, that's all she seem to like doing eating sleeping busking digging. She our first tortoise, so I was worried that this was due to breeding as we got her from a centre. Please help with any info. is this common? the reason I haven't notice before is because she seems fine and she has grown a little bigger now and it's more noticeable.

Hello,

A "Centre" is simply an animal dealer.

Re. 3 claws - one may have broken off. The remaining claws appear to need trimming, it needs firm soil to dig into to keep them in check. Trimming needs to be done by a vet, who will also examine the leg.
There is a list of reptile vets in the box on the left, or speak to your local vet.

From what you state it seems to be well generally.

Regards,
Tom
