poorly horsefield eye.
Posted: 01/03/2015 by oliviaweaver

Hi I have a horsefield tortoise he's around a year and a half and I've just noticed before giving him a bath that his right eye looks like it's not there, it's not until he opened it that it was just a clear ball and his eyelid looks slightly swollen and white. I don't know if he's blind or its an infection etc. I'm really worried for my little Henry. What do i do?

Hello Olivia,

Eye probs. are fairly rare in torts..

You need to take urgent veterinary advice.

The cause of the problem may, in part, be environmental. If you post pics of your set-up & full details of how you are keeping it, temps., light/heat source, etc., it would be poss. to offer you some advice.

Regards,
Tom
