Hi Darren I am in southend so a little way from Cheshire I am very interested in rehoming the 4 year old sulcata female as I have a 9 year old male and I have been searching for a female for about 4 years now with no luck, I have considered buying a baby female and waiting for her to go big enough to be with my male Fred but I would love to give a good home to a rescue/unwanted one, I am an avid animal lover and I took in a rescued rabbit in November last year from a local rabbit charity I also have two tropical fish tanks and feed the wild life. I have a large outdoor area at the end of my garage where Fred lives. Please let me know if she is still free. Thanks kellie

Hi Kellie,

To be honest we had a home set up for her - but the current keeper has not got back to us:-(
We would be interested in seeing a Registration Form & photos from you if you wouldn't mind. Both Sulcatas and Leopards are rehomed on the strict understanding that they aren't bred. Most people by them on a whim and just haven't got the facilities to house them long-term. Most end up living a miserable existence and end up being passed around when pwoplw realise what they have let themselves in for:-(

Here is a guide on how to foster a tortoise from the TPG. Please read thoroughly.
Firstly you will need to submit a registration form which can be downloaded from the TPG website here:
http://www.tortoise-protection-group.org.uk/site/131.asp
If you have any difficulty downloading the form, please drop us a line at
rehoming@tortoise-protection-group.org.uk and we will send you a form in e-mail format. All you have to do then is hit reply, fill in the form and send it back to us at rehoming@tortoise-protection-group.org.uk. Please note that registration forms will not be accepted without photos (these can be sent in a separate e-mail), these should document where the tortoise will go to warm up, suitable grazing areas, shed/greenhouses/coldframes etc. This will allow us and the current keeper to make the best match for the tortoise(s), ensuring continuity of care, which is paramount. If you have more than one species, please label the photos so we know which species are kept in what areas.
Once we have received your registration form, we will then upload your details into our database for future reference so you won't have to submit this information again. We would be grateful however if you inform us of any changes to your current circumstances e.g. house move or any changes to accommodation/where the tortoise(s) will spend their time.

Once you have registered, details of tortoises available can be found on:-

Our Website:-

http://www.tortoise-protection-group.org.uk/site/181.asp

Facebook Page:-

If you see a tortoise that you are interested in fostering, you will simply need to make us aware of it by emailing
rehoming@tortoise-protection-group.org.uk We will then contact you if we and the current owners think you are a suitable match.
Be aware that not every email is answered as we get so many responses, please don't be put off by this.

HTH
Darren
