Harriet is a, probable female, Leopard tortoise approximately 5 1/2 years old. She was purchased Harriet privately in December 2008, when the current keepers were told that she was approximately 18 months old. She now weighs 1.5 Kg and measures 12.5 x 4.5 inches from top to tail and side to side of the bottom of her shell She has had some digestive problems which prompted a visit to the vet last summer, but a change in the basking temperature soon rectified the problem. The current keepers are concerned that they will not be able to meet her long-term needs and they have made the decision to rehome her solely on Harriet’s best welfare at heart. Harriet, currently located in the Pontypridd area, is very sociable and the current keepers are looking for a home where she is not isolated or alone for any length of time. As with all Leopards, we will only rehome to someone on the understanding that these tortoises do not enter into a breeding program. Leopards require specialist care and due to their size and the fact they do not hibernate, they do require ample space and heating If you have already completed a rehoming application form, we haven’t e-mailed you for further information and you are interested in rehoming any of the tortoises we have available, please e-mail us at rehoming@tortoise-protection-group.org.uk.
