My name is Aaron, I am going to be 12yrs old  on 5th October, I am going to getting my first tortoise on 27th October 2008 my mum and I are so excited!!!!  I am counting down the days.

I hope you will post lots of pictures on here for us to see.  And ask us any questions you're unsure of.

This is a lovely birthday present.  How lucky are you?  I bet you are exited, but you will have lots of time to get everything well prepared for it.  Have a look at the tortoise link on the left hand side of the page and in the drop down menu you will find a section which we are still putting together on enclosures.  You can read up on our most recent edition to it 'How to Create Your Own Word Garden' and if you go to the links section you will find a whole list of links to safe plants and flowers and also those which you need to avoid. Although your tiny tortoise will not need a full weed garden just yet, so a large plant pot will do to start growing your weeds in for now.

I am getting two horsfield from Helen.  I am going to call them 1 and 2.  We have been busy today down the beach collecting rocks, we have also got  play sand and organic soil.  My papa is making my box as he is a joiner, I phoned him to hurry him along.  I have been working on a school project today about horsfields so all my class mates will see the pictures Helen sent me tommorow,  my mum has sent away for a tortoise seed mix so we will be starting to grew them hopfully by the end off the week,  they take about 2-3 weeks to start growing.

We are going to be related through our tortoises! I have one of Helen's horsfield hatchlings from the same clutch as yours - her name is Lily. I also have a 1 year old horsfield called Ruby who is from Helen too. They are lovely tortoises and will keep you very busy and entertained.

Hi Aaron, Welcome to the group (again) and HI to Aarons' mum as I am more than sure this will be a joint venture. Baby tortoises are like magnets, you are drawn towards them without even realising it, before long hours will have passed and you will become an expert in IDing weeds ect a mile off. There are some tortoises in the Photo Gallery (left hand menu) then click on members gallery. There is plenty of room to upload all you pictures when the day arrives and I must confess to looking forward to seeing what you papa has made for these lucky new babies.

There are pictures of my tortoises in the members gallery. Click on 'Photo Gallery' then 'Members Gallery'. My tortoises have seperate albums and they are called 'Ruby' and 'Lily'. Ruby is 1 year old and Lily is 2 months old.

Hi All

Had a look at all the great pictures,  It's given us some great ideas!! They are all so cute, we are nearly ready for the new arrivals, we have been busy all weekend only a few more days to go!!!  We got the weed mix  and they are hopefully growing as we speak they are in my friends greenhouse.  I have spotted a few good places where weeds are plentyfull, tommorow we are going to start the temporary outdoor pen until the little ones get a bit bigger, as helen sent me some great pictures.
