hi i have a herman tortoise and a horsefield they get on fine and now i have just read that you shouldnt mix species of tortoise i already know people that have lots of tortoises and they seem fine,can anyone tell me do you think i should be worried? i was hoping to get more tortoises soon as i love them and have a large shed with heat lights in and large enclosed garden for them.

Hi
That is correct, you shouldn't mix species for the following reasons:-

                   Each species have their own specific need
                   Cross infection of bacterial pathogens
                   Different methods of mating which could cause shell damage  
This is just a few examples. You can keep different species but they need to be segregated.
