Where to start
Posted: 08/06/2011 by nicky65

After being petless for a few years since the death of our much loved cats we have decided that we would very much like a tortoise. We understand that caring for them is a little more complicated than looking after cats so we have purchased a book and read info on this site but would like to know when is the best time to get one. We would preferably want a mediterranean variety and from a baby but would also consider rehoming one. We have allocated a place in the garden which would be ideal for an outdoor enclosure (seen some secure structures on internet) but whilst we prepare rocks and plants etc would it be ok for a small tortoise to live in an indoor enclosure that we could put in the garden when we are there to watch over it? We live in Kent so can anyone recommend a good breader?

Hi,

It sounds like you are doing your homework which is good as there is so much to learn in order to get it right. You are right to buy a tortoise from a breeder. Please take a look at our uk breeders list.

we have a few breeders in Kent and surrounding areas.

Good luck

Ali
