So sorry to hear the news that someone may have stollen your tort.  I too came home and found that Toby was missing from his enclosure.  We searched the whole garden over and over, we eventually found him in a spot i had already checked, i guess he looked like a rock in my frantic search i didnt see him.  I was convinced that he had been stollen as his enclosure is nearly 12" in height with plenty of space and things for torts to do and eat.  However it was a really hot day and they do get very active.  Still not convinced he climbed out, i watched him for days, nothing, then he did it, i saw him climb, using anything to leverage up including his head, on to the roof of his house and over the top falling 12" to the grass landing and off he went.  I hope this is what has happened to yours, go through the garden with a fine tooth comb, put some freshly cut cucumber /toms [i know toms are a no no but torts cant help themselves] out and see if the smell will bring him/her out of the hiding place.

good luck

Hi, i have told all of my neighbours, searched the garden many times and put a poster in the local vets. The pen she was put in has chicken wire on the top to stop her from climbing out. I do think she was stolen because the lock on my garden shed had been forced and bent like someone had been in my garden to steal something :( ill keep looking everytime i go out, thanks
