Hiya,

JD certainly does have an unusually dark plastron for a Hermanns, possibly a regional variation which has been passed down through the parents genes. I did see a Hermanns some years ago that had spurs on her thighs in addition to the tip on the tail and have been talking with someone today who has a tortoise with the tip on the tail and spurs also, though she could be a Hermanns/Spur-thigh hybred. Hopefully she'll send through some photos soon.

Best Regards
Darren
