Hibernation

Hello I haven't got a tortoise yet but I was wondering, does a tortoise have to hibernate if you keep the temperature up. if they have to hibernate is it dangerous could they possibly not service it.

My personal opinion is that hibernating species should always be hibernated, unless there are health issues which would make hibernation dangerous.

A couple of points to remember with the non hibernating species, such as the Leopard and Red Foot, is that they can get quite large and be expensive to keep warm and fed during the winter months.
