hello, our tortoise egg was due to hatch yesterday and nothing has happenecd yet, not worrying or anything just wondering if anyone has ever had an overdue egg before?

we had 2 eggs from our tortoises but one broke beofre we even realised there were any there! our tortoises arnt old enough to even hibernate yet and we were told that the egg would be unfirtile and would crumble up within a few weeks.... this was over 100 days ago :-O

we went into the graden centre today and they said that if it didnt crumble up then it is deffinatly fertile and not to worry but take it in after 2 weeks if nothing has happened and they will do a c-section on it, of course i burt out laughing but the guy was serious!

hope to be sharing good news next time im on here. xx

Hi, a 110 days is quite a long time, but they can go over, from listening to other members experiences it is best to leave it for a while.

If it wasnt fertile it wouldnt have crumbled, they just go bad inside like a chicken egg if left, if this is the case they eventually explode which isnt very nice and rather smelly!  Have you kept it in an incubator at a constant temperature and humidity?

Hope all goes well!  regards VivienneClick and drag me down to the editor
