What a woderful gesture - please read

The 14 tortoises which were stolen from a garden in Portsmouth unfortunately still have not been recovered but there is a small ray of hope for David and Pauline.

We think our members might like to know of a wonderful gesture from someone who is on the TPG  List of Breeders.  Suzy (one of our recommended breeders) was so moved when she heard about the devastation felt by Pauline and David when they had all of their tortoises (six adults and eight babies) stolen from their garden in July, that she has contacted them and is giving them one of her hatchlings free of charge.

In Suzy's own words:

"I know how devastated I would be, I only hope it helps ease the pain of losing their babies a bit, by having another one to love & look after".

This is a great example of how people in the tortoise-keeping community support each other, and the TPG just wanted our members to know how great we think Suzy is.

What a lovely thought. It must have given Pauline & David encouragement to know that there are such good people  out there, after their awful ordeal. I feel sick

Suzy, Such a kind hearted offer. I am sure this will lift Pauline and Davids hearts.

I am so pleased a gift of a hatchling has been made by Suzy. May Pauline and David have many years of pleasure with this new tortoise.
I have to say, though, that the theft of our tortoises seems to be a huge problem. It appears that six foot walls and going through a number of gardens has been applied to get to a tortoise that I know of. It has been mentioned as to my having a rescue toroise but I would be so afraid of it happening again. Although I had one toroise he had been with me for more than 30 years, he had character! What is happening is awful.
