hi why does my tortoise hiss at me and go into his shell xx

Mine have only done this on a very rare occasion, if I've really startled them, picked them up from the garden when maybe the've hidden in a hard to get them out of hole or some were were its hard to be as gentle as I'd like to be, sign of fright /protesting / disapproval maybe, this is the only time I've been hissed at :-)

thanks cath think its when she just wants to be left alone, as it usually when i let her walk around on floor and she probably just wants to sleep xx

Hi My Teddy does this, think its where they pull their head in so fast, its air...Dont think its much too worry about.
