How often should bedding substrate (sand/soil mix) be changed for a Horsefield? I never see any poo in the table but when he came out for a walk today he pooed twice. Is it possible he is not pooing in his box?
Sorry for all the poo talk!

Hi
Don't worry Poo's & Wee's are quite a major topic in our household, much to my daughters horrorClick and drag me down to the editor

How often to change the substrate depends on a few factors, for example, my one wee's in the bath every morning, and the poos are solid so I pick them out of her pen as I find them.  I change and clean everything with F10 about every 8-10 wks, when she is in her indoor pen, and  I am basing this on just one tort in the pen, if there were two then I would do it more often. The pooing- I would think he is only doing what you can see, but without knowing any more about the habitat(Viv or open pen), diet(weeds), heating (UV temps) and set-up, it is hard to really comment. Hope this helps

Good advice Jane, I'm like you I clean them out about every 3 months, just spot pick the rest of the time.
