Does anybody have experience of using the Lucky Reptile Herp Nursery II - Incubator?

Ive just seen this product in my local reptile centre and looks like a useful piece of equipment.

Hi, I havent heard of that particular one, if you do buy it, just make sure it doesnt rotate the eggs (I believe the poultry incubators do) as tortoise eggs must stay in one position throughout incubation.

I have heard a lot of success stories using the Hovabator, I have made my own out of polystyrene fish box (there is a link on the left on how to make them), this is very cheap and cheerful and works a treat!

If you buy it please let us know how you get on with it.

Hi Dave,

It looks an expensive piece of equipment to me Click and drag me down to the editor. The other thing that would concern me is it looks as though there is a fan in the back of the incubator. A fan would dry out the albumin in the egg, still air incubators are a must with tortoise eggs. Like Viv I use the Hovabator (model 1632 I think) - and have never had a problem

Hi

Thanks for the fast replys - sorry didnt make my plans for this very clear. At the moment my 2 male Hermanns are only aged 3 and 4 so Im looking at this as a hibernation device.

Ive pasted a link found on google to show this item.

Sorry Dave - I completely mis-understood Click and drag me down to the editor

I don't know anyone who has used this as a hibernation fridge. Personally, I would tend to go for a Husky fridge, this sort of thing:-

I do know quite a few people who have used these and they achieve a good stable temperature.
