Been a bit busy recently but I will be looking in more now the nights are drawing in. I'm just starting to wind down my North American Box Turtles who seem to have have anti freeze for blood. Challenging. Click and drag me down to the editor

I envy you keeping turtles, i was looking into getting some European pond turtles a few years back as ive always wanted them but it proved hard finding a uk breeder and working full time just would of meant more animals for me to look after. Would love to see some pics of yours if you have any? :-)

Always happy to oblige with some pictures of my babies, I'll dig some out.  I've been very fortunate in that I've found two breeders of Box Turtles here in the UK. Therefore the majority of mine are captive bred with the two oldies being from the remnants of the stupid 80's trade when they were shipped in to replace the "garden tortoise". Very few of these old timers survived I'm afraid.

European Pond Turtles would be a great species to keep in the UK. They dont grow huge and are well suited to our climate. I keep a couple of species of US Mud Turtles, which reach a very diminuative size as adults. Well suited to captive care if you can get your head round feeding them creepy crawlies!

Do you actually breed them? Sorry i read the word babies and just wondered. If i ever decided to keep them i would only have european ponds as i just love that species as you say they acclimatize to our weather easily and are nice "not too big" turtles. Its a long way off for me as i havent even got a pond yetClick and drag me down to the editor Look forward to the pics

I don't breed them yet, no. All my torts and turts are "my babies" Click and drag me down to the editor   The CB boxies are between 1 and 3 years old so are very much still youngsters.

Don't know if this will work but there should be a picture of Tex, one of my year old Ornate Box Turtles above. I'll post some more in the members gallery.
