Thanks Sharon, Many people don't visit the home page of different sites and we are very lucky that the TPG admin (aka Helen) keeps the home page up to date with breaking news and developments in the tortoise world. As for the pictures I LOVE them too! Hopefully they will attract members to visit the home page more often.

Thanks for posting, Elaine

I have a feeling that tort is Jo's little Lotus with a twisted neck but I may be wrong.  If you have a good close up shot of Twiglet that you might like to see on the home page then send it to me by email at the original size to helen@tortoise-protection-group.org.uk and just head the email 'For home page slide show' and I'll see what I can do.

This applies to any of our members who might like a picture of their tortoise or tortoises on the home page.

Hi Sharon,

Thank you for the compliment Click and drag me down to the editor   The little tortoise with the lopsided grin is, indded, my little Lotus.  She is 3 years old and I've had her since she was 6 weeks. She was hatched with a twisted neck, which is not as uncommon as you would think.  Not sure if it's genetic or down to incubation, but her neck is always tilting to the left, which does give her a cheeky grin.

In the wild she would not have survived very long, as not having all round vision would have make her very vunerable to predators.  In captivity however, she manages perfectly well, in fact, the tilt of her neck allows her to see me coming with food before the other tortoises Click and drag me down to the editor
