5 week winddown
Posted: 01/11/2009 by tortoise7

Hi Guys
Can you give me some advice please. Molly is a big girl length 23cms (2300 mm) her weight is 2514 ().20666) so I will be winding her down for 5 wks , if you think that would be correct? my dilemna is!! I am following your care sheet but it only covers 4 wks, so which week should I replicate? I am thinking the 3rd but really not sure, between wk 1 or 2
Thanks for your help

Hi Jane,

At 2.5kgs - 4 weeks should do it. Keep an eye on her passing stools, they should gradually become less. I only really use 5 weeks for my 3 & 4kg+ females.

Hi Darren
Thanks,  Ok Plan B and change of charts teehee, that will make life eaisier just to follow your care sheets, I was just dithering then whether to leave the winddown for another week as it is only 4 wks but I will go with it as I have started her, have you started yours yet?

Hi Jane,

Just boxing my last lot up today ready for the fridge. Most of them are in already. Earlier than I would have liked, but I had a few that refused to eat:-) I did have a surprise a few weeks back. I went to check on the adults and there were two babies walking around that hatched in the greenhouse:-)

Hi Darren
OMG I bet you wondered what was happening, so one door closes and another one opens!!!!!  no relaxing for you over the hibernation period then?
I will keep going with the winddown now I have started, I was hoping that Molly would stop eating herself but she was still eating for England, how ironic is that after last year when I first got her. I don't like going out in the garden and looking inside her house just incase those longing black eyes are peering at me (Coward), it is going to be awful with Keya when I do her later on, I think I will have to move her into another room or move us teehee. I feel alot more confident this year about the hibernation although what it is they say about pride before a fall, so perhaps I should reserve judgement on myself and say that after they both come out of hibernation
