Please help

Hello all you lovely tortoise people.
Alfie and Daisy are 13 month old Spur Thighs. They both weigh 42 - 45g. Should I be looking to hibernate them this year?
Alfie is quite active but Daisy tends to sleep quite a lot. They have been out in the garden when it's nice weather, I feed all the correction foods and the temp in their tortoise table is spot on. I am just so scared off this hibernation thing - I've never done it before and you get given so much different advice. Shall I hibernate them this year or leave it till next year when they are a little bigger??
Please some body help me.
Thank you
Julie

Please please can some one tell me if I should hibernate my little torts this year as my husband seems very reluctant to do this as he thinks they are too small - he is a novice like me though!!
Alfie and Daisy weigh 45g and are 5cm long. They are both healthy but do appear to be slowing down a little.
I am looking to buy a fridge for the hibernation but am wondering whether to hold off until next winter????????????
Thank you
Julie

Hi Julie,

If they appear healthy then there is no reason why you shouldnt hibernate them. I use the fridge method with mine and find this the best way, i usually hibernate mine for 6 weeks as they are only juveniles. The first time is always a worry but as long as you follow our wind down procedure then you wont have any problems.
