Slow babies
Posted: 15/08/2009 by 13rainbeau

Hi all we're new here.

I'am a bit worried about my 2 baby ibera's Dotty & Doris. They are about 7 week's old and 18-19g. They eat weed's with vitamin's and limestone, live in a topless table with an all in one bulb. The temp's are cool end 22c and warm end 35c. We put them outside as often as possible, weather permitting. Bathe them most day's. And we got them off a tpg breeder.

But they have slowed down over the last week or so and will sleep alot more than before. They get up about 9.30am and are back in bed before 3! Is this normal? We live in the midland's and haven't really had any dramatic change in weather.

Any advice?

Jenni

Hi Jenni, your set up sounds good, I have some babies the same age and I live in the West Midlands!, and mine are doing the same thing.  They are only tiny babies and their natural instinct is to hide and sleep. Mine come out and feed then disappear!  So not to worry they are only doing what comes natural! Click and drag me down to the editor

Hi Jenni,

Viv is right. It sounds like you have the ideal set up for them and this is normal behaviour so dont worry. My babies are exactly the same and spend alot of their time sleeping. Are they eating ok?

Click and drag me down to the editor I've just read the prep guide for hibernation and it suggest's not to hibernate under 35g. Mine won't be then i should'nt think! So i'll be overwintering them this year and probably asking for lot's of advice again next year!!  Click and drag me down to the editor

Hi Jenni,

I dont hibernate mine until they are 40g but thats just what i have always done. Yours are certainly too young and small to hibernate this year so stop worrying and enjoy themClick and drag me down to the editorClick and drag me down to the editor
