RE; stolen torts in hampshire
Posted: 25/07/2008 by shazzler

hi all, im just asking everybody if they could possibly help this situation by printing the information regarding the stolen torts and distributing it to the vets in their local areas, i have printed the bbc news page covering the story added the tortoise trust postcard and a brief note asking theshop owners if they would be kind enough to take as much information as they can if they are approached by somebody selling torts.

im just wondering if there is anybody who can contact the owners and ask whether any of the torts had distinguished marks or maybe a recognisable sign such as a chip in the shell or something as this would be very handy in identifying them if they are passed on

i know i only have 1 baby russian but i would be mortified if anything happened to her so this family must be going thru hell

Hi Sharon that's a good idea.

As not everyone on here are members of the regular forums they may not have seen the notice about these tortoises.  Would you kindly mind posting the link to the BBC story.

I would love the owner to get in touch with us and I would put her story and any pics on the home page of the web site.  If anyone does know her please make her aware of the TPG offer of help.

Thanks for spreading the word Sharon. Try asking the vet to show you how to worm your tortoise, many are only to pleased to share this knowledge. A very important part of tortoise care, did the vet do a faecal sample first? If so, at what cost?

Thanks guys for your reassurance, that is what makes you feel good to be apart of this forum and the TPG, it is very friendly and encouraging.

I was at my vets tonight collecting tablets for my cat Sadie and I told them about the stolen tortoises in Hampshire, although it is not in our area I don't think it hurts vets to be a aware that this goes on. They were pleased it had been brought to their attention and said that they would keep a vigilant eye.

Hope twiglet is soon worm free...Click and drag me down to the editor

hi elaine, no we didnt need another fecal hun because we could see the worms with our own eyes and we didnt get charged another consult fee, he weighed her and shes gone from 116g to 109g but he said that she is fine and alert and active, he only charged us £9.90 in total this time, im really not confident enough to worm her myself yet even if he showed me Click and drag me down to the editor
