I HAVE EGGS !!!!
Posted: 29/04/2009 by lackmichelle@yahoo.com

Hi Everyone,

My 13yr old Hermans has laid 4 eggs today, and although im positive they havent been fertilised by my non-interested male herman I still dug them up and put them into the incubator (mainly to show my daughter - who was very excited).

Is there a way to tell if they have been fertilisted - for some reason I thought that you could hold the egg up against a light to check .................. (maybe just something I heard).

Congratulations on the eggs! You can candle them in a dark room using a torch, but you have to wait around 3 or 4 weeks. They should start to chalk up shortly. Make sure when you candle them you dont turn the eggs, they must stay in the same position.

I have EGGS too,  My female Graeca Ibera laid as she woke from hibernation - in a warm box in the greenhouse.  It is very early in the year, but of course, she thinks it is spring.  Are they likely to be fertile?  She has been with a male for 18-months.
