Hi,

Just want to check are both daisies and chickweed ok for Horsfields?

Hi Row,

Chickweed (stellaria media) is fine for torts.
Several plants are called daisy -- for example bellis perennis (the daisies you see in short grass and on verges) and bupleurum praealtum (the Ox-eye daisy). I think that both of these are OK for tortoises, but I wouldn't feed a lot of them as they do contain some tannins -- not enough to be dangerous, and probably OK as part of a mixed diet. I haven't really done a thorough search on them, so if anyone knows why they shouldn't be fed, please let us know.

Thanks Nina.  If you haven't guessed I've been weed picking today!  I went to different pplace and found loads of chickeed so that's good news.  I've given them the odd daisey now and agian and they seem fine but I just had that awful thought of "are they menat to have these?"!!!!!
