Tortoise Pellets
Posted: 27/02/2009 by Shelbyville

I am sorry to post questions on this subject but is there any vitamin/mineral supplement found in tortoise pellets, which a tortoise requires for maintaing health, that could not be gained by a balanced weed diet, nutrobal and access to uvb. The reason I ask is there seems to be "people" that claim that pyramiding is unavoidable unless tortoise pellets are given. And I just can't believe that it could ever be the case. Does anyone have any thoughts?Click and drag me down to the editor

Hi, no there is nothing a tortoise can get from pellets that it cant get from completely natural foods such as weeds and plants with the added supplements of neutrobal or calcium flour.  Pellets are very high in protein and promote rapid growth, best to steer clear of them.Click and drag me down to the editor

Hi Vivienne

I wouldn't use  tortoise pellets in a million years. But I simply couldn't understand why, not using them lead people to believe torts would become lumpy! The mind boggles!
