Horsfield/Kent
Posted: 15/02/2009 by TPGJo

Good Evening,

We have been approached and asked if we could, with regret, find a new home for a 9yr old male russian.  He was bought as a tiny hatchling along with another for company, sadly as the other tortoise appears to be female, he is very stressed at not being allowed around her.  He is very, very active around the female to the point where the female even refused to get up on a morning, he is also very aggressive towards her.  They have been seperated and he has recently come out of hibernation, but as he can still smell her, it's driving him a bit nuts.  The owners feel the only option is to rehome him.

If you would like to offer this tortoise a new home, please contact us at rehoming@tortoise-protection-group.org.uk with the email subject line 'Horsfield/Kent'.  The rehoming application form can be found in the Rehoming Section of this website, you will need to download it into your documents, complete it and attach it to your email.  Any problems, please let us know, and if you have already completed an application, please let us know when you apply.

Please note: There is no fee charged for re-homing but we hope that
if you are successful in your application, you will consider a
donation to help towards the TPG's work. Please be assured that any
donation no matter how small will be spent working towards making a
lasting difference to tortoises. Not all tortoises that we have
rehomed in the past have required veterinary treatment, however
occasionally this has occured, therefore as a non profitable group we
rely on your generosity to help our cause.

It's with great pleasure that we can announce that this tortoise has now been found a new home. The transfer should take place this weekend, and thanks for everyone who applied to re-home him, and also to help with transport.

This cheeky little male horsfield is going to a home where it is envisaged that eventually he will have his own little harem which, given his very strong interest in the opposite sex, will delight him no end {g}.
