Hey all I get my tortoise tomorrow but I'm wondering how long my lights should stay on and when they should be turned off 

I'm new to tortoise keeping and a lot of people on the internet have a different view and I'm worried it will get too hot for my tortoise 
Please help

Ideally you study first & get a tort much later.

Send pics of your setup & details of lights please.

Which species & what age is the tort ?

Your question was invalid since you didn't mention any temperatures.

30 minutes could be too long if the lights are not set up properly.

Ignorance is bliss.
