After much research we used top soil in our table for our 2 baby hermanns. today i changed the soil as there were some small flies hanging around the spiderplant in there. we chucked the plant away and cleaned it then replaced the soil.

i sieved it and found some little stones.

is there any actual better brands of topsoil to use?

Use soil from the garden provided that it is not polluted. 

Stones are no problem.

i would rather use shop bought as our garden has hard clay like soil.

any suggestions as to best brands?

the last one i bought was from wickes and it had very small stones in. i had read something about them eating little stones which isnt good for them
