Hi I'm just starting to build on outdoor home for a tortoise I'm looking at adopting. I jusybwant to know if these would be OK to start with? Is there enough space?

Hi, I haven't adopted one yet. I want to have the right set up before I do. A friend who has one just mentioned these pens but I just wanted to check first. I have been reading your posts about sizes and didn't think it would be right. I'm just on my way to get a few books now, I'm not finding the Internet much help really. Everybody says something different. I was looking at rehoming a tortoise around 5-10 years? Any help is appreciated, i understand the importance of getting this right from the beginning.

Wire sided pens are unsuitable. If you get a 5+ year old, then a small pen [as in your photo,] is unkind. You need to make a 15sqm wooden sided pen, 30cm high. Wire above is not needed at that age. All the info you need is on this site. Click on "The Tortoise /.. " There are a few good books, but most are useless. Just work thro' tho site, taking notes. Tom
