Scottish dealers, any help!
Posted: 12/03/2016 by Cassandra86

Hi everyone!

So I'm really looking to get a tortoise for my 30th birthday, I've wanted one for ages, I have been told by numerous people to get directly from a breeder and not the Internet. So I'm trying to find a dealer in Scotland, I live in Perth. I would be willing to travel within reason, but ideally it would be a Scottish dealer! Another couple of things I should say are, I would ideally be keeping inside, in a table or, as close to a table as I can get with a cat around, I had seen that someone had converted a large hamster cage, purely for the cage element, if this is a terrible idea please let me know though!! Any one with any suggestions on breed, as so far I have really only been advised to get Russians!

Thanks
Cassandra

Hello,

Not in Scotland, so it's a case of finding the nearest in England & travel.

A large rabbit cage is ok whilst small, but f it can't go out in summer, in a large enclosure, then it's unkind.

Pet dealers push Horsfields as they get them very cheap, but avoid or face huge vet bills.

ps You twice mention "dealers"  - these are the ones to avoid !!
Beware as a lot of dealers pretend to have torts from breeders. British breeders do not sell to dealers !

Hi cassandra

I am relatively new to this site. But I saw you were looking for a tortoise. I have recently had to ask for my female horsfield  (nina) to be rehomed and she is currently on their rehoming page. I am just outside edinburgh in Musselburgh.  I don't know if you are still looking for a tortoise, if you are please check out the rehoming page.

Hello! I'm based in Edinburgh and looking for a tortoise to rehome! Is yours still available? Struggling to find a breeder!
