Newbie in Scotland
Posted: 22/02/2016 by Annagram

Hi Everyone

I have my first tortoise.  He is named Bertie and is a 14 year old Hermanns.  I have been getting some excellent advice from an experienced keeper but I would like a good reference book that is up to date, breed specific and covers a wide range of topics.  I don't mind if it isn't cheap! Rather pay more for a book that covers everything than lots of cheaper books that only touch on some things.  Very grateful for recommendations.  Thank you Anna

Hello,

I trust that your tortoise is currently in hibernation. A very good Caresheet can be found on the TPG site.

To the best of my knowledge, a species specific in depth book on T. hermanni does not exist. Even if it did, it would somewhat destroy the pleasure of searching for gems of information from diverse sources.

I suggest that you look for sources of scientific papers, there is no better place to start, than by joining the Tortoise Trust.

Regards,
Tom
