Hi,

I have today taken on a 3 month old Hermann tortoise as the previous owner has unfortunately fallen ill. 
I am confident in most aspects of looking after her, however, cant find an answer to whether the substrate she has come with is ok or not? 
I was going to put her on sterilised top soil mixed with play sand, but she has come with a couple of bags of pets at home tortoise terrain. Is this ok for her?

Hello,

Topsoil from your garden is fine, 'though it might need a bit of drying off.

I'd contact the above firm & find out what's in tort. terrain. In general it's a company to avoid, as it tends to encourage impulse buying. Good pet shops don't sell animals.

Thanks Tom, she thankfully came from a breeder originally, it is just that her previous owner also bought things at pets at home. And i should have put 7 months not 3 in original post.
