Hello James,

Click on "Photo Gallery" for lots of ideas.
Substrate - moist garden soil or Coir - buy as a block).

100W Megaray UVB bulb with a dome reflector.

Most important, do NOT buy a tortoise from a pet dealer [shop/centre] - read the Post above titled "Dead Tortoise"

Regards,
Tom

Thanks for that info Tom,I live in Ireland and I can't seem to find any breeders over hear, would you know any breeders in Ireland,I have found a good reptile shop my son has got stuff from them.

I don't know of one James, but it's very risky buying from a shop. Breeders don't sell to shops, but all of these reptile shops say theirs are from breeders. If they are captive bred, then they are bred in the EU & imported in batches of 1,000 or 1,500 by the importer. So imagine !!

There are some in circulation in the pet trade which are UK bred according to their A10 Certificates, I am extremely dubious. It's not worth the risk.

99% of horsfields in the pet trade are wild caught - again avoid.

Click on "Buying a Tortoise …." on the left. I'm sure that some of the TPG breeders would meet you near an airport.

I'll see if any of my tort friends know of any Irish breeders, allow a week or so, if I don't reply it's negative.

Garden soil is fine David.

See my 1st reply re UVB.
Click on "The Tortoise / " box for a Caresheet, the breeder should also supply their own Care info..
