Hello,

An unusual choice of species for the UK, not a good choice for a novice.

Whilst I look up some info., can you tell me where your parents acquired it & when please ?
How are they keeping it ?

Regards,
Tom

Hi to be honest they found him walking down the path of a housing estate! They registered him as found and nobody has ever claimed him and that was 2 years ago. He seems healthy though every time they've taken him to be checked at the vets he locks himself in and the vet can't check him at all.

He has a viv indoors and they have a heat lamp for him and an outside pen for the summer but he's getting pretty big and we need to think of a bigger indoor pen. We don't know a lot about bell-hinge backs as he's our first tortoise but he is eating slugs as well as veggie's.

Thank you for your help 😀

If he's lasted 2 years, they must be doing something right !

The TPG stress the need to buy from breeders & don't recommend keeping Kinixys, so there is no Care sheet available.

It's good that your parents took it on & are doing quite well, but are sensibly seeking a bit of help. If you go to the Tortoise Trust site, you can download a Caresheet. Also click on "Articles" to find even more info..

Best wishes,
Tom
