Hi I have a 1 year old horsefield tortoise who for the past few days has been off his food not drinking water and generally wants to sleep. I had a tortoise specialist look at him who dosnt seem overaly concerned although he had now started to occasionally mouth breath. She said to change the substrate and keep his light off as he maybe to hot. She says he looks healthy had a shiny shell is strong no weeping eyes no sneezing no discharge etc but im really concerend as it says it maybe a sign of a rti... help

Hello,

You state "keep his light off," How exactly is your tort. being kept.
Are you handling it a lot ? - this can cause stress / gaping.
What is "rti" ?

Regards,
Tom

RTI = Respiratory Tract Infection.

Where (geographically) are you and where is your tortoise kept?
