Bittercress

My little Horsfield hatchlings really love bittercress but I have heard it's part of the brassica family and should be fed sparingly. Is this true? They eat it most days. They are also very fond of fuchsia flowers too but I limit these to once a week.Click and drag me down to the editor

Hi,
Bittercress is a member of the brassica family, but it is a large family and not all the plants in it are high in oxalates. Everything I have heard about bittercress indicates that it is fine for tortoises, and it is on the TLady recommended list of plants. I'm less sure about fuchsias, but I'm sure they aren't toxic and pretty sure they are OK. I think that both these plants, as part of a mixed diet are fine.

Thanks Nina, the two of them would be very unhappy if they had to forego their bittercress.
