Tortoise not eating
Posted: 15/09/2013 by Joanne12345

I have a spur thigh tortoise, he's around 7 years old.

For around 4 or 5 days he was not touched his food (strawberries, vedgetables, salad with the calcium powder on top.) He will walk around as normal, but only if we get him out of his tank. His eyes look normal and his breathing is fine, but he's just been off his food which isn't normal for him

If you know anything about what could be the probelm, please let me know.

Thank you.

Hello Joanne,
Where has he been living all summer?
Looking at his food - it's not good, have a look at the info in the green boxes on the left.
Strawberries & other fruit is best avoided, (yes I know he likes it!) it leads to a build up of flagellates in the gut.
You say "out of his tank" - can you please explain exactly what he is living in (& size etc.) ? Where does he go when out of it?
Let us know please & it may be poss. to help you.
Regards
Tom
