Horsfield Tort in the garden
Posted: 27/07/2013 by Lallies

I have just got a 2 year old Horsfield tortoise called Lallies who is very cute and healthy. I have a tortoise table which Lallies lives in with all the lights and setup but am taking her/him out each day for 4 or 5 hours in a pen on the lawn in the garden if the weather is sunny. The pen has water, logs, hiding places from the sun , rocks and is hopefully escape resistant. Lallies is only in this pen when we are out there with her/him. Do people think Lallies will like coming out into the garden each day ?

Hello,
Sounds like a nice set-up. Yes out all day, not just when it's sunny. It's Summer!! Just avoid rain all day & hailstorms. Click on the boxes on the left & the forum as there's much to learn. Hope 'Lal' was from a breeder.
Regards
Tom

Thank you for replying Tom. Lallies came from online retailer that said they were specialists but who know. The vet says Lallies is in very good condition and the right age as sold. I intend to have many many years with Lallie, lol. BW Steven (Lallies dad)

In that case it's wild caught sadly. Pity, but at least you treasure it. Tom

Well they say they are captive breed, "We only specialise in captive bred TORTOISES so our knowledge on tortoises is second to none." This why I went to them and they have good customer service. I don't if I can mention them by name? But if you google the words Tortoise and shop they are the first ones you come to. I really hope Lallies was captive breed.

I don't doubt your sincerity, but not all that glitters is gold!!
Good wishes
