Walking round in circles
Posted: 30/05/2013 by Mozla

My tortoise has recently started walking round in circles. Is this part of normal behaviour? Also he seems much at ease in human male company (he is a male) but recently has tried to bite me. Is it because I'm female or is it possible for tortoises to decide who they like and don't like. He should like me as I'm the one doing everything for him.

Any answers appreciated.

Hello Mozia,
You need to provide much more detail, eg age & size/weight of tort. Also the type of housing & the size of it.
Regards
Tom

He is a Hermanns, nearly 6 years old, not sure about his current weight but he is about the size of the palm of my hand. He lives in a 6ft table top but loves to be out, being with people, wandering in the conservatory and just now because it is nice, supervised in our lawned garden. He is healthy and is quite a character. He loves climbing onto things and jumping off and for a tortoise, quite smart at working things out. This new circling behaviour comes mostly when my older son interacts with him, the biting is mostly with me even though I do the most with him, even the baths, which he hates!
