New rules re chipping
Posted: 06/05/2013 by insenceaddict

Hi all, with the rules changes in November and all annex A over 60mm needing chipping before A10's can be obtained, can anyone tell me if you can still get bulk licenses per clutch if sired by same male or are they all individual applications at 25.00 each now? Still think 60mm is very small!

Hi tom, checked with animal health, formerly defra. Under 60mm no need to chip and can apply for TSC but over 60mm, micro chip and apply for SSC. This cert is issued then to the specimen, not the holder and stays with them for life whereas the TSC's go back to Animal health with a copy only to the new keepers who then reapply once chipped for a SSC. The breeder can apply for SSC's on a clutch basis (25.00 per clutch)if same parents but of course chipping is individual as is the cost. The new mini chips are used and whilst I personally feel 60mm is too small to chip, selling babies smaller than this is not acceptable to me either as they are fragile.
I hope this makes sense. If not pm me and I will try to explain better!
