Hello. It depends on their age. I am intrigued by your question, coming as winter is over (well almost!!!) Does this mean that you have studied every other aspect of tortoise husbandry, but for some reason you've missed the bit about hibernation? There is a lot of good info on this site, work your way through it. The key advice which the "Protection Group" gives is this - buy a tortoise from a breeder ONLY. That way you'll get a healthy animal & all the advice you need. Best wishes, Tom.
