do hermanns tortoises need to hibernate, if so from what age?

In the wild they would hibernate from the first year, so we should try and replicate what they do in the wild. All our hatchlings here hibernate from the first year in soil, this protects them from frost and when the weather is very cold. It also helps in maintaining their hydration
