Importing captive-bred tortoises

Hello
I have just come across this website, and registered.
I am currently in Rome with my partner. A cousin of my partner keeps tortoises and when we last visited they were breeding well. I was wondering the process involved if I wanted to bring one or two young tortoises back to the uk. Can anyone advise ?

You would need to apply for export and import licenses from DEFRA and then they would need to be microchipped before you applied for article 10 papers for this country. It might work out quite expensive and cheaper just to buy a couple of hatchlings from the UK.

Thanks for the information & yes it would seem simpler to buy in the UK !
