Hi

my tortoise has just had an awful choking experience he was spinning round and round with his head fully inside his shell so i couldnt get near him to pull out the offending object, talk about stressed out!!! Anyway he is ok now thanks to a tiny knife and a bit of patience but I was wondering if anyone could tell me where i can get some cuttlebone from i havent seen any anywhere - many thanks

That must have been so scary, what did he swallow? did you have to take him to a tortoise vet?
You can buy cuttlebone from any petshop or garden centre in the animal section.
Glad that everything turned out good for you and your tort, I had a similar experience when my little one took a bite out of a slug, she had a mouthful of gunk and was squeaking, I had to rush her to the emergency vet and they cleaned her mouth out, it took lots of cleaning to get it back to normal, horrible!!
