moving??
Posted: 02/02/2011 by sian

Hi, our tortoise is fridge hibernating for the first time this year ( previously box hibernated), the temp is stable around 5C however I have just heard him moving in his box, and from looking in could see his head out and shuffling around..

Is this normal, I have not heard him any other time and when checking on him he has always been still. He has been hibernating since the beginning of November. He has always previously hibernated from Nov through to March which I now know is too long however was planning on him staying in hibernation until end of this month, he is about 40 years old.

Glad for any advice

thanks

Sian

Hi Sian
Has he done a wee? and when you say shuffling around, do you mean he has just turned or is he fully awake? What species is he e.g. Hermans Horsfield? sorry for lots of questions just need to get a clear picture before giving my personal advice
Regards
Jane

Hi Sian

I would check him as it sounds like he's woken up and may need a drink
